It's true that there are a lot of benefits to a paved driveway. Paving your driveway can improve your home's value, improve aesthetics and give you a smooth surface for driving and parking your car, but it can be expensive. If you're on a tight budget and can't afford to hire someone to pave your driveway, however, you shouldn't assume that you can't have a nice place for parking your vehicle. Give these options a try, and you can have a nice driveway for a fraction of the price of hiring someone to pave it.
A dirt driveway might not seem like a good idea, but if the surface is very smooth, it can actually be quite nice. You may need to bring in some additional dirt to create your new driveway, but a truckload of dirt shouldn't cost more. Then, you can use a rake to create your driveway surface, or you can rent a tractor to grade the dirt and make it nice and smooth. The great thing about a dirt driveway is that it is cheap and effective, but you may have to worry about mud when the weather isn't nice. Luckily, however, this can be a very affordable option if you are on a tight budget.
A gravel driveway is the second most affordable option, and it can be very aesthetically appealing. You can choose from large rocks or fine gravel, and gravel comes in lots of different colors, so you shouldn't have a difficult time choosing the one that looks best on your property. You can buy gravel in bags if you want to create a rather small driveway, or you can have it delivered to your home by the truckload. Either way, you will probably need to rent a tractor or hire someone who specializes in grading to smooth it out and create your nice driveway surface..
Pave it Yourself
If you crave the benefits of a paved driveway but don't have a lot of money, you can always consider paving it yourself. You can buy bags of concrete mix from a home improvement store and can mix it up yourself, and you can even rent the necessary equipment to create your paved surface. If you take your time and use the right equipment, you can get a very similar look to what a paving contractor can do, but you'll be able to save a lot of money in labor costs. This will obviously be more expensive than making a driveway out of dirt or gravel, but it will still be a whole lot cheaper than hiring someone to do the job.
